Michael Wallraven – Tech Market Access Advisory
Positioning. Decision-Maker Access. Strategic Partnerships.
Opening Markets for Tech Companies.
Over the past three decades, I have worked through multiple waves of technological transformation. From supply chain planning and e-commerce to simulation technologies, digital decisioning, cloud networks, visibility platforms, no-code technologies and AI-enabled operating models.
Where Technology Meets the Market
ABOUT
30+ Years at the Intersection of Technology, Markets and Growth
What fascinated me was never technology alone. It was what happened when technology met the market.
That journey took me to companies such as Manugistics, GT Nexus, LLamasoft, project44 and Logward, to building and leading ventures of my own, and into years of collaboration with founders, investors, boards and leadership teams across European technology markets. Some created entirely new categories. Some became market leaders. Some reshaped the way global supply chains operate.
Every stage of that journey reinforced the same principle: Technology creates potential. Market access creates growth.
Markets reward clarity, relevance, trusted relationships and strategic execution. Those are the foundations that turn promising technologies into successful businesses.
Today, I help ambitious technology and technology consulting companies accelerate growth by sharpening their positioning, creating executive-level access and building strategic partnerships that open new markets across the DACH region and Europe.
What continues to inspire me is the moment when a promising technology stops being an idea and starts becoming part of an industry. This is the point where market access becomes a decisive factor for growth.
Perspective
The Observation
Technology alone rarely creates market success. Particularly in European B2B markets, growth is rarely driven by noise, activity or ambitious targets presented on an investor slide. Markets reward relevance, clarity and trust. Sustainable growth emerges when companies understand how markets actually work.
Over the years, I have seen exceptional products never realise their full market potential, while less sophisticated solutions became market leaders. Not because the technology was better, but because the market understood their value more clearly.
The next phase of growth begins after product-market fit.
At that stage, customers recognise the value, the product solves a relevant problem and the market opportunity is clearly visible. Yet growth does not always develop at the pace founders, investors or leadership teams expect. Because from that point onwards, a great product alone is no longer enough.
The focus shifts towards building market relevance.
Positioning has to become sharper. Credibility has to be established. Access to the people who influence and shape buying decisions becomes a critical success factor. At the same time, partners and multipliers become increasingly important because they create trust, extend reach and accelerate market access.
This is particularly true in European B2B markets, where trust is rarely built through visibility alone, but through relevance, credibility and the right relationships.
In my experience, growth is rarely determined by capability alone. More often, it is determined by relevance.
APPROACH
How Wallraven & Partners operates
Wallraven & Partners is built around a simple observation.
Many technology companies have strong products, capable teams and attractive market opportunities. The next phase of growth depends on the ability to translate technological strength into market relevance.
Over the years, I have seen companies make significant progress once positioning, credibility and market access became aligned with the quality of their technology. This is where the foundations for sustainable growth, stronger market presence and successful commercial scaling are created.
